You
may have noticed that I added a new page to my blog about my novella, More Than
This.
I
completed my novella in the beginning of this past summer. Presently, I am
searching for an agent to represent it. I was inspired to write this story from
my family's experience with the foster system. God has taught me a lot through
all of this and it has played in my story.
The walls that once stood to hide
Erynn from the scoffing world are now crashing.
Her mom has given up on her, and a foster home has taken her in. With her new found faith, life’s challenges
change. Will she let the past hurt and
abuse prohibit her from making the right decision, or will she let God change
her life and in turn impact others?
My book is
different because it takes the unique perspective a teenage girl in the foster
system, but it goes beyond that. It shows how the rest of her life is changed
by the lasting impression her foster/adoptive parent’s Christian faith. The
story doesn’t end when her new life begins.
I feel that
this book is important because it addresses simple issues like trust, love,
forgiveness, and compassion. But is also shows the importance of Christian
foster homes. I have found through research that most people think of the
foster system in general is bad. Living as a foster sister has shown me how
important Christian foster homes are. They stick out in a good and vital way.
In 2010 there were 347,067 churches in the US. The sad part is that there were
107,011 children waiting adoption. Christian foster homes influence the kids,
the social workers, and the parents of the kids. That’s what makes this story
so important.
While the sting of rejection hurts, I
know that God opens doors. I am excited to see where God will take me.
Sounds like a great novella. I hope you can find an agent to take the story up!

ReplyDeleteMy name is Sarah and i'm a fellow teen blogger. I adore your blog! You have such beautiful posts on here.
I'm actually writing a book where the main character is being raised in a foster home. If you ever want to give me your thoughts on a life like that, I couldn't thank you enough. You seem like a wonderful and very sweet person and I know God is using you in amazing ways.
Please stop by my blog and leave a comment if you're interested ;)
Thanks so much!
DeleteIf you have any specific questions I would be perfectly happy to answer them. You can comment here or on my novella page if you wish. That sounds like a neat story!
